Households’ packaging is transported to the municipality’s transfer station where producer responsibility organizations collect their share. Packaging waste from businesses must be collected separately and can be left free of charge at our collection points.
Collection of collected household packaging
When the municipality has collected the household packaging, it is transported to the municipality’s transfer station. Here, the material is distributed between the producer responsibility organizations, which are then responsible for collecting their share of the collected packaging.
Before collection can take place, the transfer station must make a transport booking in NPA Logistik.
Municipalities who doesn’t have an OLS-agreement with Näringslivets Producentansvar
According to the ordinance on producer responsibility for household packaging, Sweden’s municipalities are responsible for providing transfer stations (OLS) where producer responsibility organisations will collect packaging waste. In order for this handling to function smoothly, the producer responsibility organizations, together with the municipalities’ representatives, Avfall Sverige, produced a basis for an OLS-agreement.
Municipalities who does have an OLS-agreement with NPA does not have access to NPA Logistik, why booking for collection of packaging waste needs to be done manually. Download template and instructions below (in swedish only).

Commercial packaging and collection points
In every municipality there are companies where packaging waste is generated in their operations. It can be, for example, hospitals, preschools, restaurants, offices or shops. Businesses with packaging waste have a responsibility to collect their waste and leave it for recycling.
